DINNER

Valette

We had one of our better dining experiences recently at Valette. This place is getting great writeups from major reviewers. Get the Scallops!

Chalkboard

Sonoma County and Healdsburg is the mecca for Farm to Table dining and Chalkboard is one of the top spots to it. They have a great patio if you make reservations well ahead of time.

Scopa

Great Italian, reasonable prices, good atmosphere- call far in advance for reservations

Barn Diva

Nice atmosphere & good food! Call ahead to make reservations

Spoonbar

Very solid place, smaller portions- great cocktails, good atmosphere- good spot for after dinner drink

LUNCh/Casual DINNER:

Kinsmoke

BBQ smokehouse opened in 2015. Counter service, nice bar area, and spacious. The food is stick-to-your-bones good.

Parish Café

Lunch Spot- New Orleans/Cajun Po-Boy- Fried shrimp/catfish/pickles- worth the calories

Healdsburg Bar & Grill

Great fries & Bloody Mary’s- good outdoor atmosphere

Campo Fina

Pizza & Italian food- Scopa’s sister restaurant- Bocce ball court in the back

El Farolito

No, this is not the same famed Taqueria found in the Mission District in SF. But, it does still hold itself as a place to visit if you want some Mexican food. They specialize in Oaxcan dishes. Christina really likes the fish tacos and I like their Mole dishes. Super burritos with shrimp or carnitas are great.

BREAKFAST:

Costeaux French Bakery

Range of breakfast & lunch options, have never been disappointed here. Plan to wait on the weekends during peak times.

Downtown Bakery & Creamery

In addition to daily pastry options such as the sticky buns, a small breakfast menu including pancakes, omelets, and other specialties is available on the weekends.

Parish Café

New Orleans style cuisine featuring things such as the breakfast Po-Boy, Crawfish & Andouille Omelet, & Banana's Foster.

BAKED GOODs/SWEET TREATS

Noble Folk Ice Cream Bar

Seasonal pie menu (such as Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake & Salted Caramel Mississippi Mud Pie), Ice Cream (Corn Flake Crown Maple & Japanese Purple Yam), & Stumptown Coffee from Portland.

Moustache Baked Goods

We can't put moustache on here & not mention the gourmet cupcakes. Favorites include the Farmer & the Miller. Try the Butcher for something different- spicy Bacon meets cupcake!

Downtown Bakery & Creamery

Jim, a long time Healdsburg resident, told us about this place. Rumor has it that Julia Child used to have her driver come up from southern California & load up the car with the sticky buns to take home. This was enough to get us in the door to check it out, and the sticky buns are now a coveted morning treat with coffee.

The Wurst

Laid back sausage place that has delicious creamy vanilla & chocolate custard.

COFFEE

Moustache Baked Goods

Pour over Four Barrel Coffee, fresh beans as well- don't forget to ask for your free sweet treat or drip coffee with the purchase of 12 ounces of beans!

Flying Goat Coffee

Pour over Coffee, fresh beans to go.

Starbucks

You know the drill.

Grocery Stores

Big John's Market

High end grocery store similar to Whole Foods. Favorite spot to grab sandwiches to take tasting (call ahead- it can take a bit to make them!), cheese (black label Cambozola is a favorite) & meats to stay in & cook or grill out (pork tenderloin & specialty sausages are favorites of ours).

Dry Creek General Store

Popular spot to grab sandwiches to take tasting (call ahead as it can take awhile!) & cheeses. Not a full grocery store, more of a grab & go type spot. Some outdoor seating (picnic tables) & a small old bar perfect for a beer when you are wined out.

Safeway (1.9 miles)- Basic large grocery store, does have a good selection of local wine & products.

Dry Creek Valley Wineries

Ridge

Indoor & outdoor tasting- This is some of our favorite wine. They have great zins and a famous Cab. Ridge was one of the wineries that participated in the 1976 Paris tasting that put California wines on the map.

Dry Creek Vineyards

(Indoor & outdoor tasting- picnic tables to bring lunch or snacks, superb value for great wine)

Papapietro Perry

The spot for Pinot Noir. Nothing too fancy but just great Pinot.

Sbragia

(Indoor & outdoor tasting- picnic tables to bring lunch or snacks, great wine, good views)

Bella

(Indoor & outdoor tasting, cave tour, great atmosphere, fun place)
